Well Tomorrow is Halloween...

Since I live in an apartment building that doesnt allow trick or treating, I will have to go to my mom's to see the ghosts and goblins.

I'm not really big on Halloween any more, which is not good because it's Mike's favorite holiday of the year. We don't have any little ones to take out and it's also the anniversary of my grampie's passing.

I miss him, alot. It's been 4 years since the cancer took him away from us. Some day's I forget that he's gone. I used to visit with my grandparents every night if I wasnt working, I would take my walk around the beach and than right up that hill after supper & the dishes were finished always in time to watch Wheel Of Fortune and Jepordy. Its taken me a while to be able to watch them again. This has been a terrible week, all I want to do is crawl into bed and wait for it to be over. I know in my head that he's in a better place now, and there is no more pain for him... but it's my heart it just aches. If Only... how many times have I said that in the past four years. But If Only's can't do anything... they are wishes that one makes that will never come true.

I'm glad that I was able to be one of his pallbearers. It was one of the hardest things that I have ever done in my life and something that I will never forget. My grandparents have 17 grandchildren, 11 boys 6 girls. It was just easier for the 6 of us girls to be asked to do it I guess that way none of the boys would feel left out. It was also the day that my Uncle Donald passed away as well, Nov. 3. What a terrible time 2 deaths in less than 2 weeks, that was a funeral that I couldn't go to I didn't have anything left.

There have been times this week where I feel like it's back to that day when I got the call that he was gone, I feel so sad but in a way that I'm overwhelmed. I break out crying for no real reason and I think that I'm going crazy. I have never gone to the graveyard, not since the day that we buried him, I just can't do it. Our family flower is Scottish Heather and it is said that when the scot men went into battle they always carried some heather in there pocket. The very last thing that I did at the funeral home was to put some heather in his pocket, everyone else put in photo's and such I put in heather and tucked a daisy into his button hole. He and I would pick wild daisies and may flowers when I was young and the smell of both remind me of him.

That's it for now.

It's Tuesday..

And I've been pretty busy. I've done a couple more pixel paintings and I'm going to make a new webset for the upcoming holiday season.

The last 3 evening's I've been watching a movie and a documentry on the Halifax Explosion of 1917. We never really learned about this in our history classes in school, which is really sad considering that this happened in our provenice. To think that all of these people died for something that may have been prevented. What is so outragous is the fact that this was the biggest explosion ever seen up until the atomic bomb, the worst thing that ever happened in Canada and may people never knew that it happened. My Great Grandmother was in the explosion, she was one of the lucky ones she lived. But she lived her life from then on with a piece of wood embeded in her leg. Right up until the day that she died. I think that she was 81 or 82 when she passed away. I really can't remember, all I remember is that she pass when my brother was still a baby.

I know that sometimes I tend to get obsessed with things, right now it's the Halifax Explosion and learning all that I can about that. As well as pixel painting. I can see that the upcoming weeks will see us taking little trips about to see the bell tower, maybe this year on the anniversary we will go and take part.

Well that's all for now.

Well it's Sunday..

Not to much going on today, my cat is in heat again I know that I should get her fixed. It just seems that all of the people that I know who have had there cat's fixed end up with sick cats. My friends Kathy { who's cat Bubba had feline diabetes } had to be put down on the 12th of this month. My friend Stacey's cat Mickey had feline lukemia. They are both fixed. Just makes me wonder sometimes, if doing this to cat's makes them ill. Which is why my Cali Rosie has not been fixed yet. So I guess I will just have to live with her going into heat, it will soon stop now that the cooler weather is upon us.

Well that's it for now, I have a few errands to run and I hope to be back in a bit to do some more pixel painting. Melissa at Melissa's Pixel Garden has a new one that I haven't had the time to do yet. They are great fun and if not for Melissa's site, I would never have had the nerve to try them.

I've become addicted...

To Pixel Painting. I've been doing nothing but that since Sunday Evening. I must say that at first I found it to be very challenging. Now I'm having a ball with it. I'm gong to add a new sections when I get a few more finished I think.

I must say that I'm kinda proud of myself as I have no talent for drawing what so ever. LOL.

Well it's kinda late here, so I will post in the morning.

Well it's Saturday...

I have spent most of the day working on my site and adding new pages to it as well. There are 2 Belive & Family Recipes. I'm happy with the way that the colours have turned out as well.

It's been raining all day and it's really cold out today. That's it for now, I think that I'm going to go watch some tv.

Oh Wow it has been a while...

Well I haven't updated in quite a while alot of things have been going on the last few months... Now where do I begin.

Mom finally had the last surgery this August. I'm so glad that we can finally put this chapter of our lives to rest. Who knew that one operation for a gallbladder could lead to so many surgeries. 8 in total since Feb. of this year. 2003 is sure going to go down as one that I won't soon forget. Watching your mom almost die from one doctors stupid mistake makes me so mad at times.

If someone would have said to me that this was going to happen I would have told them that they were crazy. I have had my day's where I still can't belive it all. But mom is here with us and that's all that matters in the end. I had times where I didn't think that she would be. I really don't know what I would do with out her. She is the glue that holds us all together. Last weekend was Thanksgiving and we all went down for dinner, there were times that I didn't think that things would be like that again. I have been keeping this inside for so long because I couldn't unload anything on my family it was just too hard & I've come to relize that keeping it in wasn't doing me any good at all.

On September 29th we were hit by hurricane Juan. That night was just so scarey. The wind and everything falling down, watching the power transformers blow up in the night sky and seeing the glow of the oil stack burning all night. We were with out power here for 2 days. Everything in the fridge was starting to spoil on us. Thank goodness I hadn't gone grocery shopping or I would have lost everything. We listened to the updates on a walkman that we had in the apartment. I took the headphones and aranged them on my hurricane lamp so the sound would echo out and we could hear it. I had no way at all to cook anything hot, so we ate sandwiches for the first evening. That is until I found 2 boxes of tea lights. I took those as wells as the basket from the deep fryer and my tea pot and rigged it up so Mike and I could have hot soup. We were even able to make coffee with it.

The weather that followed the next few days was so strange. It was so hot out. We were able to have hot showers for those 2 days. We live in a building with only 11 units in it, I think that a few of the neighbors must have gone to where they were able to get hot food or something. The mess that the hurricane left was so sad. All of the old growth trees are gone, we were in a state of emergency for a week. Told to stay inside and not go to work if you were not needed.

My parents live right at the coast where the hurricane hit. My mom sister and her kids went to my other sisters for the night... but my dad and bil stayed at the trailer. That is until it started to rock so hard that my dad thought that it was going to roll. They spent the night in the car at the bottom of the hill because so many trees were down and there was so much flooding that they couldn't make it out. The ocean came over the sea wall, about 500 to 1000 feet. You can see the debree it left, all of the trees are now leaning inland to the right. My mom had it right when she said it looks like the hand of god came down and smacked us. The good news is that the trailer is still standing, only a bit of damage. Some of the siding was ripped of one of the back walls, and the roof needs to be fixed up a bit. The power meter was nearly ripped off the side of the trailer but we were able to fix that. Over the next bit we will be helping out to reblock the underside of it.

This past week has been a bit rough. My mother's cousin passed away suddenly from a bad heart. My sister was in a car accident {she is okay } My best friend had to put her cat down & we were hit with another wind storm that knocked power out in some area's.

Good News though yesterday was my Godson's 5th birthday. They are having a get together this evening for the adults and tomorrow they are taking the kids out bowling. Great fun to be had by all.

So that's the story of why I haven't posted in 2 months. I hope to get to post more often now.
