2003 in Review...

Since I'm not sure what's going to be happening tomorrow I thought that I would post my year in review today.

2003 started out with my mum going into the hospital in January with a gallbladder attack. She was there on her 49th Birthday. Feb. 20th she went it to have the thing removed and was sent home the next day. By Saturday she can't get outta bed because she's in to much pain and turned green. Sunday they call an ambulance to take her to the hospital. She stays there for a week, the do nothing but pump her body full of pain meds. I spend Saturday night, Sunday morning with her {to this day all she remembers of that night is me watching movies with no sound} She would sleep for 15 minutes wake up take another med shot {she had the pump where she could give it to herself} have a drink of water and throw up.
6:30 am I call dad he's on his way. 7am they start with the dye so she can have a scan done. 7:15 second drink of dye {was suppose to be every 30 mins but the nurse screwed up the time} 7:30 third dye drink and they come to take blood. Mum start to shake, cant breathe and her heart rate goes up way to high. I'm made leave the room and the lady in the next bed is removed, were both sent to the chapel. Dad shows up he can't go in so we start calling my sisters and brother. We are all there within 30 minutes. They get the heart rate down some and take her for her test. We call all of the family, even the uncle that was pretty much kicked out of the family because of stuff that he did.
Mum is taken to icu after the test and all of her sisters and brothers show up. My mum was transfered to another hospital in Halifax, this would be the second. They have to open her up as the gall bladder operation left a tear in her bile duct and her body was filled with bile {which is why she turned green and started to swell } They can't do the operation right away because of her heart rate going up and she needed plasma. The entire family gave blood. They operated and took out 5 liters of bile but can't repair the tear.

I was sent home at 7pm to sleep. Didn't sleep, went back to the hospital. They put mum in the icu stepdown unit. She stayed in this hospital for 3 days and than was moved to another hospital. 3rd one in less than 2 weeks. She stayed in the hospital until the middle of April. We visited everyday and I got to sleep in all 3 hospitals. In March I ended up quitting my job because of all of the stress. When mum came home she had the VON coming to the house to take care of her. I spend many days at the house so I could give my dad a break. The VON stopped coming in June. Mum goes back to the hospital to have her stint replaced only to find out that the one that she had dislogged it's self, no bile was building up so they didn't put in another.

August saw her getting the tear fixed. 8 operations and 7 procedures later and she's doing great. Her belly button is now off to the right side about 5cm's from where it should be and her belly look's like frankenstines face. But she's healthy and said that she's going to keep her battle scars. She's now on a heart pill for the rest of her life because of the bile going through her body for a week it caused some damage.

They end of September saw Hurrican Juan hit Nova Scotia, we were without power for 3 days. I learned that you can boil water with tea lights and the metal basket from the deep fryer along with a tea pot. My dad and BIL wouldn't leave the house and it was in the direct path of Juan. The mobile home shook and they sat at the bottom of the hill until it was over. The ocean came over the sea wall a good 500 yards. Alot of tree's are gone, the old growth at the biggest park gone and closed down. The public gardens distroyed. My parents lost some siding off of the side of there place and we had to fix the power box as it was bent. They were without power for a week and a half. But had it back in time for Thanksgiving. No one was hurt and that's the main thing.

The end of November I got the flu and it wouldn't let me go. I ended up with an infection in my lungs. I got rid of that just before Christmas. Had a wonderful holiday and now have the flu again.

So that's the wrap up of 2003 for me.
Here's to a better 2004.

Well things have calmed down... Just a bit.

We had a wonderful Christmas. We were up at 7am opening presents, after the cinnamon buns were made for breakfast that is. Later in the day we went to my parents for dinner. They rain that we had on Christmas day was unbeliveable. My Computer room window leaked like a sive.

The boys were all wound up because of all the new toys and the candy. LOL. But we all had a great day.

I should have known better....

With Christmas being a week away I should have known better than to go to the mall today... I really should have known not to go with my mom and youngest sister. We went to Walmart, big mistake it was packed which is normal for this time of year. But I didn't think that they would leave me at the mall. I had to go and get some stuff at the grocery store and they knew that. So I went to pick up my cat food at Walmart and than I went to the grocery, I knew that my sister had to pick up her little one soon. SO I went to pick up some stuff, I come back to Walmart and I cant find them. So I decide to call her cell phone. They were at the mall lights, they had called my place told Mike that they couldn't find me and decided to leave me there. I really can't belive that they did this. Now they had me paged 3 or 4 times, and when I didn't show up they never thought to come and check the grocery. I was gone for 20 minutes. Now what if something had have happened to me.

I know that it's not a good thing to think about, but what if someone had grabbed me. They didn't know where I was, heck they didn't even think enough to stay until I showed up. They were going to leave me there. I know that I'm a 31 year old woman, but that scares the living daylights out of me. If you can't go shopping with your own family who knows that you have to go to another store and your on a timeline, they only page you in one store and don't bother to come to the other to check and see if your there. That's not a good thing. Had something happened to me they would have felt really bad. I still cant get over the fact that they actually left the mall without me.

That cat of mine is starting to get on my last nerve tonight. She won't leave the tree alone. Everytime she is left in the front room with it she start playing with the beads and popcorn. I can't wait for boxing day cause that bad boy will be coming down so I can't have some type of peace back into my life LOL... Love the cat, love the tree.... just not the two together.

Well that's it for my little rant tonight. I guess I was more flustered than I though... now off to bed.

Wow it's only one week until Christmas Eve...

I'm still not feeling better it's now going on 3 weeks with this flu. I just hope that it's gone by next week. I don't think that I can handle Christmas day with all the little ones running around and being sick as well. I spent 2 hours wrapping presents tonight. I still have a few left to do as well as pick up some more stuff. I just hope that everyone likes what I picked up for them, it's not easy when your family has 17 people that you have to buy for. I think that we should start drawing names. It sure would help make things easier. I know my family though that thought will go over like a lead brick.

There is no way that we will be able to make mom curb her love of Christmas. That reminds me I really should find out what they want me to bring for dessert on Christmas day. I might just end up picking up something at the bakery. I don't think that I have it in me to actually make something. I really would love to though. I love to bake at Christmas. My favorite thing would have to be chocolate chip short breads, and oreo cookie cream squares. But right now the thought of food is turning my stomach.

I can't belive that it was 2 years ago yesterday {the 16th} that I lost our baby. It really makes it hard being so close to Christmas. I have no choice but to remember. That was the hardest thing that I have ever gone through. The only thing that I have ever wanted to be is a mom. It really doesn't look like it's ever going to happen for us. I know that we can adopt. I have a very good friend who is adopted, and I personally think that it is a wonderful thing to do for a child of any age. Not just babies, but right now I think that we will be going back to the doctor to have the test run that she talked to me about. I've just needed sometime to think about how and what I want to do on that front.

Well that's it for now I think I'm going to put these old bones to bed before all of the rain starts. Were going to get about 35mm so they say.

Here it is Friday already...

My parents celebrated there 32 Wedding Anniversary yesterday. I went out with mom for a bit yesterday we went shopping. We usually do this every Thursday.

Since getting sick I haven't had the strenght that I normally do. I have been sick now for over a week. I started to take the antibiodics 4 days ago and they are starting to help me. Thank goodness, the coughing alone has taken a tole on me. I have never had my ribs hurt so much. This flu is a bugger to shake off.

Well were down to 13 day's until the big day. I still have a bit of shopping left to do not to mention all of the wrapping too. I think that I may start it tonight while I watch tv. Tonight is the night they vote to see who gets the home on house rules. I have been listening to christmas songs on the radio today and it's put me in the mood for wrapping and fixing up the decorations that my cat had knocked down.

Well that's it for now.... time for a nap

I'm feeling very sick and tired of being sick and tired!

Well it's Wednesday and I haven't touched my blog since last Tuesday. Simply because I have been so sick. What started out as a cold got to be alot worse. I thought that I had the flu to begin with, but I had the flu shot. So when things kept getting worse I went to the doctors on Friday. Not my regular one, she was off for the day but a duty doctor. He listened to everything and checked me out. Than he gave me a script for antibiodics. Told me to only get them if I got any worse. So I didn't pick them up until yesterday.

Because of the Storm that moved in on the weekend we went tree killing {as my brother put it} on Saturday instead of Sunday. It was really fun, all of us running around trying to find the perfect tree before the storm set in. It was so windy and cold out, not a good idea for me to be out in weather like that. We did manage to get our trees... it only took 3 hours. The drive to the tree farm was an hour both ways. So it made for a great outting and wonderful memories.

Sunday when I woke up I never felt so miserable in my entire life. I was coughing up and storm and still am. I cough so hard I keep giving myself a head ache and my ribs are killing me. All I wanted to do was sleep, but because there was a death in the family on the first of Dec. my brother missed getting his birthday presents on the fouth the day of the funeral. So even though I felt terrible, and it had snowed the night before I made my way down to my mom's house for dinner. Only to get there and cough so hard that my mom looked at me told me that I had green circles around my eyes and I should have stayed home. I could have cried, cause that's all that I wanted to do in the first place. Oh well it can't be said that I didn't show up. LOL

Sunday evening I spend decorating that tree, and than I passed out on the sofa. I didn't bother to much with the decorations on Monday, I was still pretty whipped. SO last night... yeah that was Tuesday... I finished what I could with the living room. I added garland around the curtins and the entry way. I put up my little wooden placks on all of the door way. And both of my wreaths are now up. I can honestly say that I'm finished with the decorting protion of the program.

I had a bit of engery this morning when I woke up so I did some of my house work that had been left well because I'm the woman of the house and the only one that cleans it. I'm sure that gene is missing in most mens DNA. I love him don't get me wrong... but I don't think that he knows how to use a broom to save his life. LOL

I must get the chicken in the oven to start cooking it. Tomorrow I will turn it into soup I think. That is if there is anything left to it. I haven't been cooking since I got sick. Poor guys been living off of french fries and what ever else he can put together.

Well that's it for now.

I'm feeling creative... but not on the PC!

Well we are finally getting the freezing cold weather. It went down to minus 3 last night but with the wind chill I'm sure that it was feeling even colder. For some reason our master bedroom is the worst for holding any heat. I'm not sure why it pumps outta the rad like crazy.

We will be going to get our Christmas tree on Sunday with the rest of the family. My mom has to get her's and my brother is getting his as well. Should be fun I think, I've never gone to the tree lot and cut down my own. I'm still not finished shoppings. I don't think that I'm ever done, until the day arrives and you can't get anything else.

I feel like making something today but I'm not sure if I want to do any work on the computer or if I want to work on some of the Christmas craft stuff I have around here. Funny thing is if I think about it to much I won't get anything done.

Well that's it for now.
